Working With My Big Shot...

Today's project is a 3x3 Note Card holder made from the Scallop Envelope SU! Bigz Die. By cutting (2), I then ran them thru my Polka Dot Embossing Folder as well. Trim the bottom of both to be the same size as the side tabs. Use red sticky tape to hold securly together, and decorate the holder as desired. Then make 3x3 cards to put inside to complete your cute project.
Below is a view from the front and the side so you can get a feel of the finished size.
Have a great Day Creating!

Scallop Envelope SU! Bigz Die - #113462

You can use the Scallop Envelope die to create custom envelopes from any piece of card stock or Designer Series paper. Scallop Envelope die cuts also make adorable memorabilia pockets on scrapbook pages. Simply cut the image using the die, and then adhere the edges (sides first, and then bottom) with Sticky Strip or Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive. Add a stamped image or embellishment, and you have the perfect cover for your handmade 2" x 3" cards.

The next are two cards. The first is a card that you can print directly from the My Digital Studio CD without doing anything to it - this is called a pre-made. The last card I added ribbon, stamps, and embelishments to it to change it up a bit so that you could see the difference.

Working With My Big Shot...

So this card idea came from Demonstrator Barb Phillips. I had received one in a swap a few months back. I really liked the idea and just built on her card idea. Below are the Big Shot Dies used for this card. I also used the Curly Label Punch, the Scallop Circle Punch, and the beak is from the Five Petal Flower Punch.
I hope you enjoy this idea...I thought it would be really cute on kids party bags!

Q&A

Q: I’ve heard a lot about vintage style being popular. What is it and how can I use it in my projects?

A: You are right! Vintage style is a hot trend in fashion, clothing, décor, and of course, crafting. What makes something vintage is a bit different to everyone. Generally, vintage style will have lots of layers, texture, distressing, and elegant feminine details. Read on for more information about the elements of vintage style, how to create it in your paper crafting projects, and which tools work best.

The Elements of Vintage Style
Vintage style is generally full of layers and texture. Layers of paper, layers of stamped images, and layers of texture can all be used to create a vintage-styled project. Collage stamping on card stock or on Designer Series Paper is common, as is heat embossing images over other stamped images. Vintage style can range from fairly simple layers with distressing to all-out, over-the-top glamour with ribbon, rhinestone brads, fabric flowers, and more.

How You Can Create Vintage Style
Cards, scrapbook pages, and 3-D projects featuring vintage style are tremendously popular. To make these projects, begin with a combination of muted and natural colors. Naturals Ivory card stock and Very Vanilla create more of a vintage feel than Whisper White. Colors from the Rich Regals, Soft Subtles, and Earth Elements color families will look more vintage than those in Bold Brights. Look for stamp images that have lots of detail, a variety of stamp sizes, and images that have natural or more vintage-type themes. Try some of these: Vintage Vogue (#117690), Very Vintage Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel (#117693), Baroque Motifs (#113490), Sense of Time (#113804), Wanted (115106), Friends 24-7 (#113218), and Friendly Words Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel (#114696).

Must-have Tools for Vintage Style
Distressing, aging, and elegance are combined in vintage style. To achieve the look, it helps to have the right tools. The Cutter Kit (#106958) includes a great distressing tool that makes distressing edges of patterned paper and card stock a breeze. The Color Spritzer Tool (#107066) is used with Stampin’ Write Markers to add speckles of color to paper. This simple touch adds that extra bit of detail that just finishes a project. Sanding Blocks (#103301) are great for distressing patterned paper and card stock and the Paper-Piercing Tool (#116631) adds extra detail and interest. Finally, ribbon like our satin and taffeta ribbons add elegant finishing touches. To really add elegance and feminine beauty, add a dusting of Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter (#102023) or pearls, beads, flowers, and hat pins from the Pretties Kit (#109114).

Go Vintage!
Vintage style is beautiful and fun to create. You can go for a simple or over-the-top style using stamps, paper, ink, and fun tools and accessories. Questions? I’m here to help with ideas and suggestions. Contact me today for ideas or schedule a workshop and let me treat you and your guests to a fun evening learning about with vintage style with demonstrations and Make ‘n’ Takes!

A New Team Member...

A warm welcome to Catherine Martinez-Wells...newest member of the "You've Got Stamps"... Team!
Here is a little more about her - she apologized for her typing because she just broke her right hand and is typing with her left!

1) How long have you been stamping? for almost 13 years. now that iv'e finally signed up with SU, I consider myself a full fledged stamping addict. i'm thrilled there are no 12 step programs for this particular disorder because I"m enjoying it too much! LOL
2) Do you scrapbook or paper craft? Yes, both
3) How long have you known about SU!? For about 13 years. I have every years catalog since the mid 90's (oops am dating myslef)
4) Do you work? Yes am a Project Manager. I'm currently managing $18 million grant funded program that is a coalition of 49 states partners.
5) Tell me about your family - husband & kids? Del, Alton and Vivian. Del is a math teacher. Alton is at CDO and Vivian is at Cross MS
6) Any pets? An English setter named Baxter. I call him Baxterrific!
7) What drew you to wanting to become a demonstrator? Sale-abration. I've been buying stamps at retail or used for years and thought I could save some money this way. i don't plan on doing this in a career capacity, primarily for personal use and perhaps to help fund the stamp addiction i'm currently battling ; )
8) What's your favorite color family? Don't have one. Love 'em all!
9) How long have you been here in Tucson? For 17 years. transfer student to UofA. fell in love with tucson and stayed.
10) Tell me a little bit about your hobbies, likes, and dislikes??? paper, paper, paper. i enjoy spending time with family and friends. Our kids are both teenagers now, so i'm adjusting to their new found independence and we're chauffering them around everywhere. i like having their friends over (i figure pizza, soda and ice cream and cleaning up alot is a small price to pay for knowing that they're all safe and supervised)

I am meeting with Catherine for the first time tomorrow night. If you have also been toying with the idea of becoming a Demonstrator....you may want to do it before the end of the month while the starter kit is 15% off the original price! ALSO - check out this HERE!
